Since the 90s, Nia Long and Larenz Tate have been a prime example of Black love thanks to their beloved Love Jones romance. The duo have formed a longtime friendship on and off-screen and they recently reunited for Walmart’s holiday commercial.
If you ever wondered what Christmas in the future with Nina Mosley and Darius Lovehall looked like, you are given a glimpse into the evolution of the character’s love story. In the teaser, Nina surprisingly receives a package from Walmart. It turns out to be an early Christmas gift from Darius, who comments, “You know I don’t like to wait.”
@walmart This long awaited reunion of Nia Long & Larenz Tate was truly special. We’re so excited to bring this #LoveJones love back to your screens.
I caught up with the iconic duo and chatted about reuniting in the commercial, holiday memories, and who they would the other person up with if they could play matchmaker with any one of their characters.
“Nia is incredibly fun to work with and easy to work with,” Larenz Tate said during a quick chat. “We did have argue,’ Nia added. “We argued about the dance move.”
The timeless beauty was referring to the little two-step she and Larenz do after putting the needle to the record in the heartwarming clip. The duo blamed it on their scorpio-virgo dynamic.

Nia and Larenz have a deep friendship despite playing lovers in the classic flick. Which is why they would make the perfect matchmaker for the other person. When asked which one of their characters they would hook the other person up with, Nia had a surprising response. “Nia and Councilman Tate would probably clash,” Larenz joked. Nia jumped in to say, “I feel like the person deep down, the older version believe it or not – she from New York, she from the streets – Imma give her O-Dog.”
Larenz was on point because harmoniously Nia chimed in “O-Dog.” Catch it all, above.
