With just four games left in the season, Odell Beckham Jr. is no longer a Miami Dolphin.
According to ESPN, the 32-year-old’s split from the franchise was mutual, and he didn’t even appear in the team’s two practices this week.
Beckham’s short-lived stint with the Dolphins was met with many hiccups. It was just a one-year $3 million deal he signed in the offseason –worth up to $8.25 million with incentives– in May. The team expected he wouldn’t be ready to suit up at the beginning of the 2024 season because of his knee surgery in the offseason, so he started on the PUP list.
So, he didn’t even appear in practice until October and debuted against the New England Patriots in Week 5.
With Tua Tagovailoa at the helm –despite battling back from several concussions– he already had great targets in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Beckham, a veteran, was expected to be a quality third option, but tight end Jonnu Smith’s star began to emerge, and the original plan for Beckham never panned out, leaving him with just nine catches for 55 yards and not a single touchdown through the season.
The expectations for the Dolphins’ team have already been drowned out, as the team is at 6-7 entering Week 15.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero points out that this isn’t the definite end of the season for Beckham, and we might see him with other squads with strong playoff hopes once he gets off waivers on Monday.

Beckham won a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2022 but played most of his career with the New York Giants from 2014 to 2018. There, he became one of the most prolific wide receivers in the past decade. He is known for his one-handed catch, which helped earn him the 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
