Essence Magazine has dropped its 2025 January/February Issue, featuring Sha’Carri Richardson striking a commanding pose (on the exclusive subscriber’s cover) in a bold, red frock. Her photographic stance shows that she is entering a glow-up era that can’t be denied. Her aura on the cover is giving “still standing tall” after all she has endured.

Richardson talks about her spiritual growth, self-love journey, and more in the issue. The Dallas, TX native is ecstatic about being on an Essence cover as it speaks to her roots. “Gracing the cover is almost historic for me,” she says. “It’s going to show my journey of transformation. I actually remember my grandmother having magazines, and ESSENCE being one of those magazines. When I shared with her that I would be on the cover, that was something that I was able to relate to the little girl inside of me. So I’m super excited and honored, and I feel like the foundation of ESSENCE aligns with the foundation of who I am.”

Sha’Carri Richardson is Living in Her ‘Soft Girl‘ Era

Richardson is living in her “divine feminine“ epoch, allowing her faith to guide her. Through her therapy sessions, self-care practices, and spiritual evolution, the Olympic Medalist enjoys embracing a life of ease. “I just feel like everything in my life is brighter now,“ she says. “I don’t have any darkness weighing me down, even within myself. I’m just at a different point in my life, where I’m not in survival mode—I’m in a loving energy. I love taking care of my family. I love taking care of my training partners. I just love the fact that I’ve been blessed to be in a position to show that divine energy.”
