J. Cole — Friday Night Lights

J. Cole gets his time travel on with the digital streaming platform release of his beloved Friday Night Lights mixtape. The Blog Era staple is finally available for fans to stream.

“This is a very special moment for me,” Cole wrote on social media. “Been waiting patiently for this day, like a lot of y’all have. I wanna say Thank you to everybody out there that kept these projects alive, even during all the years they were not on streaming services, especially this project right here.”

Wale (“You Got It”), Omen (“Enchanted”), and Drake (“In the Morning”) appear on this offering.

Back in 2015, Cole talked about the tape’s release. He said that fans would ask him about the next project after The Warm Up earned its success. “I started feeling pressure; but couldn’t get a release date,” he said during a concert, as captured by Karen Civil’s YouTube channel. “So I decided that night that enough was enough. I decided to drop a whole f-cking project.”

J. Cole is currently on a trip down memory lane through his “Inevitable” podcast series. The fifth episode, which dropped a few days ago, is all about Friday Night Lights. Remaining episodes will also be about Sideline Story, Born Sinner, and 2014 Forest Hills Drive.

Juice WRLD — The Party Never Ends

The Party Never Ends, the “final” posthumous Juice WRLD album, is here, according to Grade A Productions and Interscope.

“I’m glad Jarad‘s fans are getting the music they have been anxiously awaiting,” Juice’s mother, Carmela Wallace, said in a statement to press. “When Jarad was a toddler, he developed a love for globes that lasted for years; he was fascinated with spinning them. Reflecting on that, I realize that was prophetic of what would come. He grew to become the artist Juice WRLD, and touched people worldwide through his music.”

“His lyrics were heartfelt and expressed his challenges with mental health and addiction,” she also added. “Jarad’s transparency made people feel like they were not alone; I consider him a pioneer in normalizing the conversation about mental health.  I hope that his music continues to have a positive impact on the lives of others around the world, and it is my prayer that people do not suffer in silence.”

The Kid Laroi (“Goodbye”), Offset (“Celebrate”), Fall Out Boy (“Best Friend”), Nicki Minaj (“AGATS2”) and Eminem (“Lace It”) all appear on this project. “I wanna say goodbye but I can’t find a way to make it out alive,” Laroi sings in his farewell-inspired track. “You know that I’ve tried but I can’t find a way to make it out alive / So goodbye.”

Polo G — “No More Heroes”

Polo G is back with a holiday-themed release. It isn’t all about the joys of Christmas or Thanksgiving, but he does reflect on what the holidays trigger within.

“I miss by n-ggas every day but more on holidays,” he raps on the track. Soon, he reflects on his come up and that explains the song’s title. “I just hummed on a beat, then I rocked the stage / We was young on the street throwing block parades / Had nothing until I tripled up, zero, zero, zero / We was young and we didn’t give no f—k; We don’t need no heroes.”

The song’s music video plays this out with a Thanksgiving feast. It also includes Christmas stockings, a trick-or-treat scene, and a reflective Polo surrounded by fall foliage. “No More Heroes out now,” he wrote in his announcement post. “Happy ThanksGiving.”

Polo is also currently on The Hood Poet Tour through the states. The trek comes to an end today in Los Angeles.
