Actress Maia Campbell has made a heartfelt return to social media, sharing a life update and expressing her desire to return to the industry. The former “In The House” star revealed who she wants help to adapt her mother’s best-selling novel.

In a recent Instagram post, Campbell appeared glowing alongside celebrity hairstylist and makeup artist Jayson Glenn. This marks her first photo shared on the platform since May 2017. The post garnered an outpouring of support from fans, with comments celebrating her resilience after her public battles with drug use. Many expressed their joy and pride at her return online.

The actress is best known for her role as Tiffany on the 1990s sitcom “In The House,” “South Central” and Disney’s Seventeen Again. Following the positive response, Campbell shared a video message to thank her supporters and discuss her latest aspirations.

She revealed her hopes to collaborate with filmmaker Tyler Perry to adapt her late mother Bebe Moore Campbell’s 2005 New York Times best-selling novel, 72 Hour Hold, into a film. The novel delves into the complexities of mental health, a cause close to Campbell’s heart. 

“Everybody keeps asking me what I want to do with my career. And honestly, I could say that I really want to get in touch with Tyler Perry and have him produce my mother’s book 72 Hour Hold,” Campbell shared in the video. The entertainer shares the book’s significance and its alignment with Mental Health Awareness Month in July.​

Campbell has been candid about her struggles with addiction in the past, which led to legal issues and the loss of custody of her daughter. Her journey toward recovery has been public, including an appearance on OWN’s Iyanla: Fix My Life in 2012. In her latest video, she expressed gratitude for the continued prayers and support, saying, “Keep me up in prayer and thank you for praying for me. And I’m going to do my best to keep you guys happy. I’ll see you soon. Bye!”
