Episode 5, “The Nail That Sticks,” begins with a flashback to Famous’s early years before he decided to become an annoying rapper and sidekick to Kanan.

A man, presumably Famous’ father, is viciously beating him, accusing him of stealing money from him until his mother, Olga, and sister, Jessica, are there to keep him safe from serious harm.

In another flashback, Olga wakes up a sleeping Famous as they are trying to sneak out of the house, but the abusive father/partner tries to stop them. Olga eventually stabs him, and they flee the house and end up at a shelter.

Olga is sad because she feels they have nothing, but Jessica consoles her mother by telling her she still has her children and that they are still together.

We zap back to the present, and a concerned Olga is at the precinct because her son has been missing for 2 months. Olga feels the cops have not taken her case seriously, and the detective reveals that the police have an active warrant out for Famous and believe he has just run away to avoid arrest.

The detective suggests Olga should talk to Kanan to find out her son’s whereabouts.

O-Cee has flipped and is now sharing any information he gets with Unique (Joey Bada$$) about what his boss is doing. We learn that Kanan has been skimming off the top and stashing away money in a chest in a self-storage facility.

O-Cee presses Kanan about how he is handling the money and what he would do if his mother, Raq, found out he wasn’t paying her, and Kanan tells him that’s none of his concerns.

Unique catches up with his new informant, and he spills the beans on what Kanan is doing with the money.

Jukebox Is Coping Very Well After Killing A Person

Jukebox is very chill after killing a man in last week’s episode. Jukebox meets with Mara at a diner, and they talk about what happened with her husband.

Mara asks Jukebox if she had anything to do with his death because Jukebox asked her the address of her apartment. Juke lies, telling her she had nothing to do with Aaron’s murder and only asked for her address to keep tabs on Mara in case he kidnapped her again.

Mara accepts Jukebox’s explanation and tells her that she is relieved that Aaron is dead, which gives Jukebox even more relief because she knows she did something to help a friend.

When Jukebox returns home, she finds her dad tending to the stab wound he suffered at the hands of Aaron during their tussle. After Jukebox cleans up his wound, he asks his daughter if she is doing okay after the incident.

Jukebox reassures Marvin that she is fine, telling her dad that the cops believe the incident was a robbery and that Mara is happy that Aaron is dead.

Marvin asks his daughter if it was the army that made her numb to killing someone, and Jukebox responds it wasn’t the army she learned that from.

Unique tries to recruit Boseli’s crew to help him take down Raq and Stefano, but they decline and tell him to build up his own crew before they even think of taking down Stefano. Following the disastrous meeting, Unique leaves and expresses his frustration in his car.

Olga meets with Kanan and Jukebox, hoping they have some information on Famous. They both tell her they don’t know where he is and that he would never skip town without telling them, giving Olga more reason to be worried about her son’s well-being.

The meeting is interrupted because they have to leave to deal with Grandma Joyce, who is much weaker due to her cancer and has fallen in her home. After some convincing, Jukebox gets Grandma Joyce to agree to let her call an ambulance to take her to the hospital.

Unique isn’t the only one with issues; Raq is having her own problems with her supplier, Quan, who tells her he is done supplying her with drugs following his meeting with Kanan. On her way out, she gets a text about her mother.

With Quan no longer supplying her, Raq meets with Hafiz impromptu. He is not pleased because he told her he would contact her when he was ready to meet with her, not the other way around. Still, he agrees to meet with her suppliers, indicating he will move forward with her.

Lou-Lou & Imani Get Close

After some previous apprehension, Lou-Lou and Imani work together and scout the music scene, looking for new talent. Imani also has eyes on Lou-Lou and makes that very clear when she invites him over to look at her record collection, aka, have sex.

Their meeting is interrupted when Lou-Lou receives a text about his mother. The two eventually link up for a smash session, with Imani revealing she is feeling him and Lou-Lou telling her that if she wants to learn about him, she should ask.

Terry Takes Things Too Far

Raq and Marvin visit David and are unhappy that their product is still on the docks. David is acting too nonchalant for their liking, forcing Marvin to apply more pressure, aka threaten him with this gun.

The scare tactic works, getting him to agree to talk with his brother Terry to get the product moving again. Unfortunately, Terry failed at his one job, and Raq instructs Marvin to have a discussion with Terry but not pressure him too much because they still need him to cooperate.

Marvin meets with Terry, and things quickly go left during the conversation. Terry is defiant, telling Marvin he is done working with them because he didn’t sign up for all the bloodshed.

Marvin tries to keep his cool, but he decides to end Terry’s life after he threatens to go to the cops with all the information he knows about Raq and Marvin.

That would turn out to be a fatal decision because Marvin pulls out his gun and kills Terry. We’re not suunsurehis will work out for them in the end or if Raq will be happy to learn that Terry is dead.

Grandma Joyce Asks Marvin To End Her Suffering, We Finally Learn What Happened To Famous

Power Book III: Raising Kanan

Lou-Lou is the first family member to show up to the hospital. The doctor informs him, Kanan, and Jukebox that Joyce will make a full recovery from her fall, but her cancer continues to weaken her, and she will require full-time care from now on.

Lou-Lou shuts down and has to take on that responsibility, leaving it up to Marvin when he gets to the hospital. When Marvin arrives, Joyce tells her son that she is tired of suffering and asks him to end her life.

Marvin doesn’t agree to do it at the time, but when she does come home, he almost goes through with it but decides to, and Joyce calls him a coward for not assisting with her death.

We finally learn the fate of Famous after his rotting corpse is discovered by a kid who was fleeing a convenience store owner after he was caught stealing.

Olga comes to the morgue to identify his body and breaks down in tears. When Kanan learns the news about Famous, he loses, and the tears flow, probably realizing that the last time the two spoke, he told his best friend to kick rocks, and the episode ends.

The streets got another body and are also talking; you can see reactions to the latest episode of Raising Kanan in the gallery below.
