Shannon Sharpe Shares He Is “Electing To Step Aside From ESPN Duties” Amidst Sexual Assault Lawsuit

Shannon Sharpe, former NFL player and co-host of ESPN’s First Take, has announced his decision to temporarily step away from his role at the network amid ongoing legal issues.

Sharpe is facing rape allegations and a $50 million civil lawsuit filed by a woman identified as Jane Doe, who accuses him of sexual assault and abuse during a past relationship.

The lawsuit was filed in Nevada earlier this month.

Sharpe has denied the allegations, labeling the claims as part of a “shakedown.”

His attorney, Lanny Davis, released text messages reportedly sent by the accuser, suggesting a consensual relationship.

However, the lawsuit alleges emotional manipulation, threats, and multiple instances of non-consensual acts.

Sharpe, 56, has also stated his intention to pursue a defamation lawsuit against the plaintiff’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, and the accuser.

Following the announcement of Sharpe’s legal troubles, ESPN issued a statement supporting his decision to step aside while the investigation continues.

No timeline has been set for his return to First Take.

Sharpe’s absence and the ongoing allegations have generated significant attention, with fans and the sports community awaiting further developments.
