Trevor Jackson is stepping into the world of Grey’s Anatomy. The actor and singer has officially joined the long-running ABC medical drama. Read more about the cast update inside.
Jackson, who is best known for his role as Aaron Jackson on grown-ish, is making his Grey’s Anatomy debut in Episode 2117, the penultimate episode of Season 21. The episode will air on May 8. Jackson will also appear in the season finale, with an option to return as a series regular if the show is renewed for its highly anticipated 22nd season.
According to Deadline, an announcement could be made as soon as this week.
Jackson will play a “handsome, intelligent, but arrogant” man in his late 20s who has just moved to Seattle. While details about his role remain under wraps, there’s speculation that he may be stepping in as a new surgical intern or resident at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. His arrival follows recent cast departures, including Mika Yasuda (Midori Francis) and Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli), leaving gaps in both the intern and resident ranks. Meanwhile, “Station 19’s” Ben Warren (Jason George) has already returned to the hospital as a resident at the start of Season 21.
Landing a role on Grey’s Anatomy (a series that has maintained its cultural impact for two decades) is a major opportunity, and Jackson was reportedly chosen over numerous actors vying for the part. With the show’s future looking bright and a Season 22 renewal expected, Jackson could be positioned for a long-term stay in Shondaland’s iconic drama.
Jackson is no stranger to the Disney and ABC family. He starred as the male lead opposite Yara Shahidi in the spinoff of Black-ish, grown-ish for all six seasons of its run. Before that, he had a significant role in ABC’s critically acclaimed anthology series “American Crime,” where he starred alongside Regina King in Season 2.
A multi-talented performer, Jackson’s career began in theater, playing Young Simba in the Broadway touring production of The Lion King. He later showcased his musical prowess in The Tap Dance Kid and has continued to pursue music alongside his acting career.
As fans eagerly await his Grey’s Anatomy debut, many are curious to see how Jackson’s character will shake things up at Grey Sloan. Will he be a new doctor, a love interest, or a troublemaker? Either way, his arrival adds another layer of excitement to a show that continues to evolve after 21 seasons.
Congrats, Trevor!
