Pras saved the outro from his latest track for his Instagram stories, hinting that Lauryn Hill is more interested in generating clickbait and buying luxury items than keeping her commitments.
With The Fugees’ anniversary tour canceled, Pras has all the time in the world to vent, and TMZ obtained his new song, where he takes shots at Lauryn and addresses his legal troubles.
In the track “Bar Mitzfa,” Pras uses rock and rap to express his frustrations, rapping, “Don’t blame me, blame her, she made the mess … not another f***ing penny, is what I told [Wyclef Jean].”
Sources say the song was recorded last week, as Pras needed to release some tension following the cancellation of the Fugees’ reunion tour due to low ticket sales.
Pras has agreed with frustrated fans that Lauryn’s habit of being late or missing shows was reason enough to boycott the concerts. Her tardiness disrupted his schedule and inconvenienced the band and any guest celebrities.
Over time, the tour started to seem like a joke to everyone involved. “Bar Mitzfa” highlights these frustrations, with Pras showing little concern for the lost earnings. As a founding member of the Diamond-certified group, he takes pride in their reputation with fans.
Pras also uses the song to reflect on his conviction in a fraud case last year, calling out a high-profile figure by saying, “Obama’s name in the discoveries had to plead the fifth!!!”
Pras is currently appealing the verdict and remains free as his sentencing date has yet to be set. The last time TMZ spoke with him, he revealed that he only learned about the reunion plans through their reporting, and it’s clear that his relationship with Lauryn is still strained.
At this point, only Wyclef might be able to mediate between them. A response track from Lauryn could definitely be on the horizon.
