As the summer is winding down, a festival is making its way to the Triangle – a festival with a cause.
September 14 will mark the launch of the CAROLINADAZE Music & Arts Festival at Red Hat Amphitheatre, headlined by GRAMMY-nominated performer Janelle Monáe and renowned Philadelphia rapper Tierra Whack.
Rounding out the musical lineup will be homegrown NC acts like Moses Sumney, Lute, Helado Negro and Elora Dash.
In addition to music, CAROLINADAZE will also include poetry from Dasan Ahanu, CJ Suitt and Jadalmani, along with guest speakers representing various organizations, including the Center for Racial Equity in Education (CREED), Democracy NC, Forward Justice and NC’s chapter of the ACLU.
Organized by Common Cause NC, a non-partisan organization devoted to protecting voting rights in the state, CAROLINADAZE aims to bring North Carolinians together in music and the arts in an effort to have their voices heard before the 2024 elections.
With that in mind, the festival’s proceeds and donations will support youth voter registration and non-partisan get-out-the-vote efforts. The fest will also support six grassroots non-profit organizations, including:
Carolina Abortion Fund
7 Directions of Service
Carolina Migrant Network
Center for Racial Equity in Education
HBCU Student Action Alliance
Campaign for Southern Equality
In addition to Raleigh, a second CAROLINADAZE Fest in Asheville is scheduled for October 13.
Tickets for both the Raleigh event and the Asheville event are available at https://www.carolinadaze.com/.
