Tyra Banks sent fans swirling with nostalgia when she resurrected her iconic “Tyra Mail” segment from her legendary series America’s Next Top Model to announce the revival of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

In a new commercial shared on the model and entrepreneur’s Instagram account, Banks, a Victoria’s Secret Angel from 1997 to 2005, starred alongside fellow supermodel Gigi Hadid. In the short spot, Hadid makes a grand entrance into a chic, sophisticated building and rings a bell to summon Banks, who is stationed behind a counter with a golden envelope bearing the muse’s name. Banks turns with her signature smize and hands over the coveted Tyra Mail, which turns out to be an exclusive invitation to the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, set to air Oct. 15.

“See you there,” Banks says before Hadid walks away, filled with excitement.

Tyra Mail was a feature of the reality TV show America’s Next Top Model (2003-2013), Banks’ long-running reality television series and interactive competition in which many aspiring models competed to begin their careers in the modeling industry. It was a way for Tyra Banks, the show’s host and creator, to communicate with the contestants. The messages, often written in a playful or cryptic tone, would be delivered to the contestants as a note or a letter and provide hints or instructions about upcoming challenges, photoshoots, or eliminations. Tyra Mail was a signature element of  America’s Next Top Model, adding an extra layer of excitement and anticipation for the contestants and viewers alike.

Fans react to the nostalgic spot.

Fans in the comments section couldn’t get enough of the iconic ode to Banks’ reality TV show.

“Wanna Be On Top?! Nah nah nah na na nahhhhh,” wrote one user, imitating the show’s revered theme song.

“This is ICONIC,” another fan on Instagram commented.

Several netizens pondered if Banks would walk in this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The last time she strutted down the catwalk for the brand was in 2005.

“If you walk, I’m gonna cry. Tell me now! one stan commented.

Another person chimed in, “You better strut the catwalk. Break the Internet again. We’re ready.”

Why did the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show end?

Victoria’s Secret ended its fashion show in 2019, partly in response to criticism that also led to the dissolution of the Victoria’s Secret Angel division. The company was later scrutinized by a 2020 New York Times investigation, which revealed an alleged culture of misogyny. At the time, a spokesperson for L Brands, the former parent company, assured that they were “intensely focused” on enhancing corporate governance, workplace practices, and compliance and had “made significant strides” in these areas.

In response to feedback and concerns about workplace issues, Victoria’s Secret has now decided to relaunch its fashion show. According to the brand’s website, the team behind the show has taken all of the “feedback” into account and is excited to relaunch the event.
